Auditory Verbal Therapy is a highly specialist early intervention programme, which equips families of children who are deaf or hard of hearing with the tools to accelerate their spoken language development and ‘narrow the gap’ between them and their hearing peers. The approach includes optimum use of technology (hearing aids and cochlear implants) so that they have the best chance of learning to listen and learn spoken language. There is a critical period for developing spoken language in the early years.

I offer monthly online workshops for parents, focusing on auditory verbal strategies. Topics covered this year have covered building the listening brain, building literacy and the next one will be around the topic of developing writing skills.
The challenges of a child who is deaf or hard of hearing in a mainstream setting, may be invisible. To ensure that you are using strategies to support their optimum development, my workshops look at the barriers to learning for these children and how to help them overcome them with a few simple strategies. These strategies will be aimed at those using a listening and spoken language approach.
Webinars will be available in a range of topics. Watch this space!
